Méribel is the central resort of the Three Valleys, the world’s largest linked ski area, founded in 1938 under strict Savoyard chalet-style building rules that give the village a more uniform, low-rise character than many purpose-built French resorts. Its central position means direct lift access into both Courchevel and Val Thorens without changing resorts, making it a strong base for groups who want maximum terrain variety from a single chalet.

Our chalet sits in the Morel area of the Méribel valley, a residential setting within reach of the resort’s lift network and village center. As with any Three Valleys base, proximity to the nearest lift varies chalet by chalet, so confirming exact walk time to skiing is worth doing before booking.

December through April is ski season, with the most reliable snow typically from January through March. June through September brings Méribel’s summer season — hiking and mountain biking across the same valley the ski lifts serve in winter.

Geneva Airport is the most common gateway, at approximately 2 hours by road. Chambéry Airport is closer, at around 1 hour, but has more limited scheduled service, so most guests should plan around Geneva.

The Three Valleys lift network is Méribel’s headline draw, linking into Courchevel and Val Thorens on a single pass and covering terrain for a full range of abilities. The village itself keeps a low-key, chalet-style atmosphere with dining and après-ski concentrated around the center. In summer, the same lifts open for mountain biking and hiking across the valley.

The Euro is the currency; French is the primary language, with English common in hospitality. Méribel runs on Central European Time. Snow conditions vary by altitude and by season — confirm current conditions and exact lift-to-chalet distance with concierge before finalizing ski-in/ski-out expectations, particularly for early or late-season stays.
