Luxury Villas in Puerto Morelos

Puerto Morelos is the quietest of the Riviera Maya’s main coastal towns and the closest to the airport. It is a working fishing village rather than a resort strip, with a protected reef directly offshore that keeps the water calm and the snorkelling accessible from the beach.

Villas sit along the beach north and south of the town centre, or on the streets a short walk back from the sand. The town is compact enough to cross on foot, and the main square with its leaning lighthouse is the focal point for restaurants and boat trips.

November through April is the dry season and the busiest period, with lower humidity and less rain. The rainy season runs June to October, with warmer, more humid conditions and short afternoon storms. Sargassum can affect the beaches in some years, typically between April and August.

Cancún International Airport is the gateway, with private transfers running approximately twenty to thirty minutes — the shortest airport transfer of any Riviera Maya destination. Playa del Carmen is about thirty minutes further south, and Tulum roughly an hour beyond that.

Snorkelling and diving on the Puerto Morelos Reef National Park is the signature activity, run by the local co-operatives from the harbour. Inland, the Ruta de los Cenotes gives access to a cluster of cenotes within a short drive, and the Jardín Botánico Dr. Alfredo Barrera Marín sits just south of town. Playa del Carmen, Cancún and the Tulum ruins are all day-trip distance.

The Mexican Peso is the local currency, though US dollars are widely accepted; Spanish is the primary language and English is spoken in most tourist-facing businesses. The time zone is GMT-5. Reef tours are regulated inside the national park and must be booked through authorised operators, which the concierge team arranges.
