Whistler is spread out in a way most Alpine resorts are not. The village is pedestrian and compact, but the chalets sit across a dozen neighbourhoods up and down the valley, some with a piste at the door and some a ten-minute shuttle ride away. Choosing between them is the decision that shapes the week, and it is not obvious from a map.
The short version
Kadenwood for the best ski-in/ski-out estates. Blackcomb for ski access at a range of sizes. Whistler Village if you want to walk to everything. Creekside for a quieter mountain base. Cypress Place and the valley neighbourhoods for space and value on the shuttle.
Kadenwood
Kadenwood is Whistler’s prestige address: a gated enclave high on Whistler Mountain, reached by its own private gondola, and every one of our six properties there is ski-in/ski-out. It is quiet, private and entirely residential — you drive or shuttle down for dinner.

Blackcomb
Blackcomb sits on the other mountain, on the benchlands above the village, and gives you ski access with a shorter run into Whistler Village than Kadenwood.

Whistler Village
Whistler Village itself is pedestrian, and staying in it means walking to the gondolas, the restaurants and the after-ski without ever getting into a car. Three properties: Northern Lights 42 (four bedrooms, sleeps 14, ski-in/ski-out), Northern Lights 32 (four bedrooms, 10, ski-in/ski-out) and Fitzsimmons Walk 39 (four bedrooms, 9, a short walk in).
Creekside
Creekside is the original base of the mountain, a few minutes south of the village, with its own gondola and a calmer feel — a favourite of families and returning guests who would rather queue at Creekside than in the village. Both properties are ski-in/ski-out: Snowridge 7 (seven bedrooms, sleeps 14) and Snowridge 5 (five bedrooms, 10).
Cypress Place and the golf-course chalets
Cypress Place sits on the valley floor by the golf course, north of the village. No ski access — these are shuttle properties — but the space and value are better than anything on the mountain, and in summer the location is excellent.

Blueberry, Nesters and the valley neighbourhoods

How to choose
Three questions. Does the group need to ski to the door? Then Kadenwood, Blackcomb, Creekside or the two Northern Lights properties in the village — see ski-in/ski-out chalets in Whistler. Will you eat out most nights and want to walk? Then the village, Blueberry or Nesters. Is the group large, or is value the priority? Then the valley neighbourhoods, where the shuttle is the trade for considerably more house — see Whistler chalets for large groups.
Worth saying plainly: the shuttle neighbourhoods are not a compromise in Whistler the way they are in a tight Alpine village. The valley is served properly, the distances are short, and a chalet with a driver at Cypress Place or Nesters works well for most groups.

Is Creekside better than the village?
For families and returning guests, often yes — its own gondola, shorter queues and a calmer base a few minutes south of the village.
Do I need a car in Whistler?
Not in the village. In the valley neighbourhoods a car or the chalet shuttle makes the week easier, though distances are short.
