Whistler does ski-in/ski-out better than its reputation suggests. Of the 30 chalets in our Whistler collection, 14 are ski-in/ski-out — close to half, and a far higher proportion than you will find in Verbier or Megeve. They cluster in four places, and the differences between those four matter more than the label does.
Kadenwood — all six
Kadenwood is a gated enclave high on Whistler Mountain with its own private gondola, and every property we have there skis to the door. It is the best ski-in/ski-out address in the resort and the most private, with the trade that it is entirely residential — you drive or shuttle down to the village for dinner.
Altitude Retreat — eight bedrooms, sleeps 18, the largest ski-in/ski-out property in Whistler. Heritage Peaks — seven bedrooms, 16. Trails End Estate — six bedrooms, 16. Aurora Estate — six bedrooms, 15. High Point Estate — seven bedrooms, 14. Serenity Estate — six bedrooms, 14.
Blackcomb — four
Blackcomb sits on the benchlands above the village on the second mountain, which means ski access plus a shorter route into the village than Kadenwood. It is also where the smaller ski-in/ski-out properties are, so it suits a single family rather than a large group.
Pinnacle Ridge — five bedrooms, sleeps 12. Cedar Ridge 19 and Cedar Ridge 18 — four bedrooms, 10 each. Cedar Hollow 12 — three bedrooms, 8.
Creekside — two
Creekside is the original base of the mountain, a few minutes south of the village, with its own gondola and noticeably shorter morning queues. Families and repeat guests often prefer it. Snowridge 7 — seven bedrooms, sleeps 14. Snowridge 5 — five bedrooms, 10.
Whistler Village — two, and they are unusual
Ski-in/ski-out inside a pedestrian village is rare anywhere. Northern Lights 42 (four bedrooms, sleeps 14) and Northern Lights 32 (four bedrooms, 10) give you both: ski access and the restaurants, gondolas and after-ski on foot. For a group that does not want to drive at all, these two are the answer.
What the other 16 give you instead
Twelve properties use a shuttle and three are a walk from the village, and in Whistler that is genuinely less of a compromise than in a tight Alpine resort. The valley is short, the roads are good, and the shuttle neighbourhoods buy you substantially more house for the money — Wedge Mountain Lodge sleeps 26 and Harmony Chalet sleeps 24, and neither has a piste at the door.

One Whistler-specific caveat
Whistler’s base sits considerably lower than an Alpine resort’s, and the lower slopes can be wet or thin early and late in the season even when the upper mountain is excellent. Ski-in/ski-out here is a convenience on a good day rather than a guarantee on every day — the ski-home leg is the part that suffers first. We confirm the access, in both directions, for the dates you are actually booking.
Is it worth paying for?
In Whistler, more than in most places, because the alternative is a drive rather than a two-minute walk. With young children, or a group that will come off the hill at different times, it earns its premium. If the group skis together and eats out every night, a village or walk-to-village property may serve you better than a Kadenwood estate you have to leave by car each evening.
