Verbier is one resort but several quite different addresses, and the neighbourhood you choose changes the week more than the chalet does. The village centre puts you in the middle of the evening; the residential shoulders above it are calm and need a shuttle; one small pocket lets you ski to the door. Here is each, with the chalets in it.
The short version
Verbier Centre if you want to walk to dinner and the Medran lift. Medran if the priority is the main lift station. Savoleyres for the quieter side of the mountain and family space. Verbier Centre
Verbier Centre is a useful base for restaurants, bars and the Medran lift station. Confirm the walking route from the individual chalet; a central address does not mean every route is equally convenient.
The centre skews towards apartments and smaller chalets rather than large houses.

Medran
Medran is the area around the main lift station — a few minutes below the centre, and the shortest possible walk to the gondola in the morning. It suits skiers who want to be first up and are happy to walk five minutes uphill for dinner.

Savoleyres
Savoleyres sits on the quieter side of the resort, towards the lift of the same name, with more space and more of a family feel than the centre.

Sonalon
Sonalon is residential and calm, above the village with good views, and mostly on the shuttle rather than within walking distance. Good value for the size you get.

Patier
Patier is a quiet pocket within walking distance of the centre — arguably the best balance in Verbier between calm and convenience, and where several of the better mid-size chalets sit.

Les Esserts
Les Esserts is residential and close to the slopes, and it holds the largest chalet in the resort. Three properties: Chalet Marmottiere (nine bedrooms, sleeps 18), Chalet Sofia (sleeps 12) and Chalet Aline (sleeps 8).
Le Rouge
Le Rouge is small but significant: it holds one of only two ski-in/ski-out chalets in Verbier. Three properties: Chalet Tesseln (sleeps 12, ski-in/ski-out), Marmotte Penthouse (sleeps 10) and Daray Penthouse (sleeps 9).
Clambin and the outlying chalets
Examples to compare: Chalet Clambinet (4 bedrooms, Clambin Verbier Swiss Alps) and Chalet Melilot (2 bedrooms, Verbier Swiss Alps).
How to choose
Ask what the evening looks like. If the group intends to be out most nights, take the centre and accept the noise. If it is a family or a group who will eat at the chalet with a chef, the residential neighbourhoods give you more space for the money and the shuttle is a non-issue. If the priority is the first lift, Medran. If someone insists on skiing to the door, the answer is two chalets and you should read the ski access guide first.
