Villa Azure is a 7,000 sq ft beachfront villa in Akumal, designed in 2014 and run as an energy- and water-efficient home, with solar panels, rainwater collection, reverse-osmosis water filtration and a backup generator. It sits on the white sand in front of a coral reef, with some of Akumal’s best snorkeling just off the beach, and is within walking distance of shops, restaurants and bars.
All six bedrooms face the ocean, each with a private balcony and a full marble bathroom, for up to 14 guests. A full-time maid and a groundskeeper look after the villa, and a chef can be arranged at extra cost.
The open-plan ground floor has a large, fully equipped kitchen with a bar counter, big living and dining rooms with space for up to 25 people, high-end speakers and an electric piano. Two mahogany dining tables serve meals indoors and on the patio. Air conditioning and ceiling fans run through the bedrooms and living areas, doors and windows are soundproofed, and there is fast fiber-optic internet and satellite TV.
The large tiled beachfront pool has built-in benches and room to swim laps; it can be heated for an extra fee. Around it are sun and shade seating, a gas grill, covered outdoor dining and a poolside palapa with a hammock, and every bedroom has its own hammock. The rooftop terrace, recently refurnished with a covered dining area, has 360-degree views, a built-in bar, a bathroom, space for 25 and a 5-inch Celestron telescope for stargazing. Kayak, paddleboard and snorkel gear for adults and children are provided.
