Hacienda Palancar is a colonial-style hacienda in Sian Ka’an, the protected reserve south of Tulum, set between the lagoon and the Caribbean. The whole estate goes to one group, with a private dock on the lagoon, a beach about 70 metres from the rooms that is good for swimming, a swimming pool, a gym and a roof deck.

It runs all-inclusive. A private chef cooks breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a different themed menu most days and one premium grill night with lobster and premium cuts. Drinks from the hacienda’s selection of spirits, wines and Mexican beers are included up to 4 beers and 5 drinks per adult per day; labels outside the selection, and drinks beyond that limit, are charged separately. Coffee, tea, water and snacks are included too.

Waiters serve from 7 AM to 11 PM, the concierge is on hand from 9 AM to 9 PM, and housekeeping runs daily from 7 AM to 4 PM.

Inside, the hacienda keeps its colonial character: stone, dark woods, handmade textiles and canopy beds. Indoor living and dining areas sit alongside a fully equipped kitchen, a gym, books, table games and TV. Air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout.

02 — Outdoor & Pool

Designed for the day outside

Tropical gardens wrap the house, with a wrap-around verandah, a terrace, shaded sitting areas, a swimming pool and a roof deck with chaise lounges. The beach is about 70 metres from the rooms, with sun loungers, umbrellas and towels, and on the other side there is a private dock on the lagoon.

Kayaks, bicycles and beach volleyball are included, along with bonfire evenings and movie nights on the beach. Groups of fewer than 10 can have dinner on the pier at sunset; larger groups use the pier for sunset drinks.

03 — Bedrooms

Sleeping for 24

Eleven bedrooms and twelve bathrooms. Ten rooms have a king or queen bed and one has two single beds.

Master Suite 1: king bed. Master Suite 2: king bed. Master Suite 3: queen bed. Room 4: queen bed. Room 5: two single beds. Rooms 6 and 7: a king bed each. Rooms 8, 9, 10 and 11: a king bed each, four identical rooms.

That sleeps 22 in its beds. The hacienda lists 24 as the maximum, so ask us how the last two guests would sleep. Groups of up to 14 can book the 7-room option, still have the whole hacienda to themselves, and choose the rooms that suit them.
