Chalet Les Ours sits in Le Fornet, an old residential hamlet set slightly apart from the centre of Val d’Isère, at the foot of the ski area. It is part of Le Mouton à Bascule, a pair of chalets, and is rented as one property: ten bedrooms, ten bathrooms and 940 square metres sleeping twenty-seven.
The layout runs as two chalets of five bedrooms each. Each side holds four double bedrooms and one family bedroom, and every bedroom has its own bathroom. The two family rooms are the largest, each taking two double beds plus singles, which is what carries the total to twenty-seven rather than twenty.
The wellness floor is the centre of the house: an indoor pool, an indoor jacuzzi, a sauna, a hammam and a dedicated massage room, with a Nordic bath outside. There is a cinema room, a fitness room, and a games room with snooker and table football. A wine cellar, a ski room with boot heaters and a garage sit at the service end, and the main living space is built around a wood fireplace.
The slopes and the Fornet lift are both about 200 metres from the door. That is a short walk rather than ski access from the chalet itself. The ski school meeting point is roughly 2.5 kilometres away.
Les Ours is let with staff. The half-board service covers a private chef preparing breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner, a butler through the day, a housekeeper and a chauffeur. Food and drink are arranged separately and lunch is not part of the service, so the kitchen works to your menus rather than a fixed one.
