Casa Keller suits a family with children or two couples travelling together, and the reason is structural: one of the five bedrooms is a separate bunk casita with its own entrance and its own bathroom, so the children get their own building rather than a room down the corridor. The house sits on the Pacific side of Pedregal, Cabo San Lucas's original gated community, about five minutes from the marina and downtown, with 24-hour security on the gate. Two multi-level pools and a jacuzzi step down across the terraces and do the swimming; the Pacific here is for looking at and walking beside rather than getting into. An interior courtyard planted with water features gives the house a sheltered core for the afternoons when the wind comes up the coast. A fitness room and a sauna are inside. Four and a half bathrooms across ten guests means nobody is queueing.

Open, layered interiors

Open-plan living and dining finished in warm wood and marble with designer lighting, glazed floor to ceiling on the ocean side so the Pacific stays in view across the main level. The living and dining areas run together and open directly onto the terraces. The kitchen is equipped for a private chef or for cooking yourselves. A dedicated fitness room and a sauna sit off the main circulation. Air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout. The interior courtyard, planted and set with water features, is the quiet counterweight to all the glass.

Designed for the day outside

Two swimming pools on stepped levels and a jacuzzi occupy the terraces, with loungers and shaded seating between them and tropical planting to the edges. The terraces face west over the Pacific, which makes this the sunset side of the house and the natural place for a long lunch. Beyond the terrace wall is Pedregal's Pacific beach, good for walking at either end of the day. When the afternoon wind picks up, the interior courtyard is the sheltered alternative for eating or reading.

Five bedrooms sleeping ten. Three king suites: the upper-level primary with walk-in closet, desk and a bathroom with both tub and shower, plus two lower-level kings that open to the terrace with pool and ocean views. A separate bunk casita with its own entrance and bathroom holds two bunks, two twins and two fulls, which is where children usually end up. An upper-level office carries a full-size Murphy bed and a private shower for flexible overflow. Four and a half bathrooms in total.
