00 — Overview

Casa Arka is an eight-bedroom villa in the Tulum jungle, inside a gated neighbourhood with 24-hour security and about five minutes from the beach. It is rented whole, to one group of up to sixteen, and it comes staffed: a private chef, a butler, a concierge and daily cleaning are all included in the rate.

The house runs across three levels around two pools. The Starlight Pool and its private jacuzzi sit at ground level with the kitchen, dining and living rooms; a second pool runs along the roof with 360-degree views over the canopy, alongside a firepit lounge and a jacuzzi that takes sixteen. On the floor between them there is a cinema room.

Materials are the point of the design – exposed stone, reclaimed wood, an indoor waterfall, and open-air spaces that bring the jungle into the house.

01 — Indoor Living

Open, layered interiors

Three levels. The ground floor holds the kitchen, dining and living rooms, two king Master Suites and the Royal Chamber king suite. The first floor holds two more king bedrooms, two Queen Canopy rooms, the Queen Twin loft suite and the cinema room. The roof is given over to the Sky Fire lounge, the infinity pool and a hammock courtyard.

The interior mixes exposed stone and reclaimed wood with modern fittings, and carries an indoor waterfall and rainfall features. Every bedroom is en-suite and air-conditioned, and every room has an electric safe large enough for a laptop.

Also inside: a sound system, exercise equipment, a dedicated workspace, an indoor fireplace, and a full kitchen – oven, stove, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, dishwasher, blender, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, wine glasses and a dining table. Washer, dryer, iron and room-darkening shades throughout. For families there is a crib, a travel cot and a high chair.

02 — Outdoor & Pool

Two pools. The Starlight Pool sits at ground level with a private jacuzzi beside it, an outdoor shower, a yoga deck, a cabana lounge and a courtyard terrace. The rooftop carries the infinity pool, 360-degree views over the jungle, a firepit lounge with outdoor rollout beds for sleeping under the stars, and a jacuzzi big enough for all sixteen guests.

Hammocks, sun loungers, outdoor furniture, a barbecue and beach essentials are provided. The beach itself is about five minutes away.

Five king rooms: two Master Suites on the ground floor opening onto the Starlight Pool, the Royal Chamber with its own walk-down pool, and two more upstairs.

Two Queen Canopy rooms on the first floor, with an indoor-outdoor arrangement and views over the courtyard and the Starlight Pool.

One Queen Twin loft – the Bunk Suite – with a queen and a single, built for children or friends sharing.

Each room has an electric safe sized for a laptop.

What staff comes with the house?
