Villa Descanso is a nine-bedroom house in Pedregal sleeping twenty across eleven bathrooms, built where traditional Mexican architecture meets a more modern hand: travertine marble floors, granite and marble counters, wood accents and a desert-toned palette. The suites are named rather than numbered, and each has its own media centre. The terrace runs to over 2,100 square feet with a heated infinity pool and swim-up bar, a large jacuzzi, a fire pit and alfresco dining, all oriented toward the Pacific and Land’s End. Inside there is an internet study with several workstations and a separate television and games room with a pool table, which is a more considered provision for a working group or a family with teenagers than most houses of this size manage. Not every suite has an ocean view, so it is worth allocating rooms deliberately.
