Onze Retreat Sanctuary is a seven-bedroom private estate on ten acres of jungle at Xpu Ha, on the Riviera Maya between Puerto Aventuras and Akumal. The land rather than any single building is the point: seven separate sleeping quarters are set across lawns and jungle, with a cenote inside the property boundary.

The estate is built for gatherings – weddings, retreats and family reunions. A yoga shala, a temazcal, a chapel, a half-moon bar, a pickleball court, a volleyball court, a cinema room and a children’s playground are all on site, along with a pool and open lawns. The design language is wabi-sabi: textural and deliberately imperfect rather than polished.

The property runs on solar, including the air conditioning, and Starlink covers the internet. A breakfast chef, daily housekeeping and concierge support before and during the stay are included.

01 — Indoor Living

Open, layered interiors

Sleeping quarters are distributed rather than stacked: a Master Suite, a room called Bedroom Two, a structure called The Lodge, and four numbered villas. Sixteen beds across the seven.

Communal indoor space includes a cinema room, a kitchen and a fireplace. Wabi-sabi finishes run through the buildings – texture and patina rather than polish.

Practical fit-out: solar-powered air conditioning, Starlink internet, washer and dryer, iron, hair dryer, bed linens, extra pillows and blankets, hangers and a coffee maker. The estate is set up for laptop use. For families there is a crib, a high chair and a pack-n-play travel crib.

The cenote is the estate’s signature – a cave cenote inside the property boundary rather than a public one nearby, used for swimming, sound healing and candlelit dinners.

Around it: a pool, open lawns, a chapel, a yoga shala, a temazcal and a half-moon bar. Sport and play are covered by a pickleball court, a volleyball court, a ping pong table and a children’s playground. There is a BBQ area and free parking on the premises.

Weddings and events are permitted – the chapel and the lawns exist for exactly that.
