L’and at Mariposa is the estate for a group of twenty who want space rather than a beachfront address. It sits on about five acres of mangrove forest in Cozumel, and the trade is deliberate: privacy on every side, room for a 22-metre pool and a pickleball court, and the sandy beach 275 metres away by the villa’s own golf carts or bikes, with a caretaker who drives guests down and sets up the chairs and umbrellas.
The house is built at scale. Ceilings rise to five metres, and the furnishings are collected pieces from around the world rather than a catalogue set. Indoor and outdoor living and dining areas run into each other, a fully equipped kitchen carries a Nespresso machine and a coffee grinder, and a gym with exercise equipment covers training days. Satellite TV with 400 channels, smart TVs, a speaker system and Wi-Fi throughout.
Outside, the pool is the centrepiece, 22 metres long, with pool chairs, shaded loungers and umbrellas beside it. A pickleball court comes with equipment. A hot tub, an outdoor kitchen with grill and barbecue, an outdoor shower, a patio and a terrace for evenings under the sky complete the grounds.
Seven bedrooms take the twenty. Two master suites have king beds, bathtubs, dual vanities, walk-in closets, sitting areas and private terraces with garden and jungle views. Two more rooms have king beds and three have a pair of queens; every bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a large walk-in shower, air-conditioning and a ceiling fan.
Daily housekeeping, the caretaker and pool maintenance are included. A chef, grocery pre-stocking, concierge planning and sports and adventure activities can be arranged at additional cost.
For a large family or a group of friends who want the whole estate, the jungle and a pool to swim laps in, this is the house. Enquire for availability.
