Casa Don Rey is a ten-bedroom villa in Tulum, inside a gated community with 24-hour security, about eight minutes’ drive from the beach. It sleeps twenty-six and comes with a full-time chef, a full-time butler, daily housekeeping, a concierge and a pool and maintenance assistant.

The house is unusual in what it contains. There is an indoor nightclub the owner rates for up to a hundred people, a theatre with stadium seating, and a wine cellar. Outside, the Buddha pool – an underwater sculpture is its centrepiece – sits alongside a heated jacuzzi built for sixteen, and a second pool runs across the roof with a firepit and 360-degree views.

Two of the ten bedrooms open directly onto the pool, as do the two Sky Suites. Every room is en-suite and air-conditioned.

Ten bedrooms, all en-suite, all air-conditioned, with central air conditioning through the common areas as well. Living and dining areas are sized for the full twenty-six.

The entertainment spaces are the reason to book it: an indoor nightclub the owner rates for up to a hundred people, a theatre with stadium seating, and a wine cellar.

The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a coffee maker and grinder, with a seven-seat breakfast bar alongside the dining table. Fibre-optic WiFi runs through the house and there is a backup power generator. Laundry is on site but operated by staff rather than by guests.

Also provided: a dedicated workspace, a TV, safes, room-darkening shades, and for families a crib, a travel cot and a high chair.

Two pools. The Buddha pool at ground level is built around an underwater sculpture, with a heated jacuzzi sized for sixteen beside it. The roof carries the second pool, a terrace, and a firepit with 360-degree views.

The outdoor dining area has a grill, and there are sun loungers, an outdoor shower, an outdoor fireplace, a backyard, and beach essentials for the trip to the coast.
