00 — Overview

Vitet is inland hill country on the eastern side of St Barts, above Grand Fond, on the windward side of the island rather than the resort coast. Angel sits high on that slope, and the view is the reason: the terrace and pool look straight down to Grand Fond and the open ocean.

Nothing here is walkable to a beach. Guests drive, which is normal for this side of the island and worth setting out plainly before anyone books. What the position buys instead is quiet, a large flat terrace and an outlook that most beachfront houses on St Barts do not have.

The layout is a main building plus two cottages. Four bedrooms sit in the main house; a fifth is in a cottage overlooking the pool deck; the sixth is in a second cottage at the entrance to the property, with its own kitchenette and private terrace, which makes it useful for a nanny, a travelling staff member or an older teenager who wants a separate front door. Decoration is contemporary throughout, in grey tones, with artwork carrying most of the colour.

01 — Indoor Living

Open, layered interiors

The living area is expansive and opens directly onto the terrace, furnished with sofas and cushions in grey tones, with ceiling fans and openings that let the trade wind through. Artwork through the indoor space carries most of the colour. HD television with Apple TV and Dish Network.

The dining room sits beside the kitchen and seats ten at a single table, so a full house of twelve splits between the indoor table and the outdoor table by the barbecue rather than sitting down together in one place. The kitchen is fully equipped: electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, blender, juicer, kettle and toaster, with a breakfast bar and stools.

An air-conditioned gym occupies the lower level, fitted with a treadmill, elliptical trainer, exercise bike, training bench, weights, exercise balls, a yoga mat and a television.

02 — Outdoor & Pool

Designed for the day outside

The terrace runs across the front of the villa facing Grand Fond, with the heated infinity pool at its centre, 3 by 15 metres, and loungers and deck chairs along it. A separate shallow pool for children sits alongside, and there is an outdoor shower at the deck. Pool heating operates from 15 November to 30 April and holds the water between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius depending on outside conditions; outside those dates the pool is unheated.

A covered terrace holds a shaded lounge area, and an outdoor table sits near the barbecue. Garden planting surrounds the villa on all sides, and the entrance is code-gated.

03 — Bedrooms

Six bedrooms, all king, all air-conditioned and all en-suite, each with a dressing room, a programmable safe, HD television with Apple TV and Dish Network, and towels including beach towels.

Four are in the main building, each with an en-suite shower room with twin basins.

A fifth sits in a private cottage next to the pool. Its bathroom has both a shower and a bath, the only bathtub on the property.

The sixth is in a second cottage at the entrance, with a private terrace and a kitchenette, and can be made up as a king or as twin beds on request. The separate entrance and the kitchenette make it the natural room for a nanny, a travelling staff member or an older teenager.
