The first thing to know about booking Courchevel for a large group is the ceiling: no chalet in our collection sleeps more than 16. Two reach that number, a handful reach 15, and beyond sixteen guests the honest answer is two chalets close together rather than one stretched past what it holds. Here is exactly what exists at each size.
The two that sleep 16
Art Chalet — 8 bedrooms, sleeps 16, in Courchevel 1850, with ski-in/ski-out access. The only property in the resort that combines maximum capacity with skiing from the door.
Le C Penthouse D15 — 8 bedrooms, sleeps 16, slope-side in Moriond. Same capacity, sunnier village, typically less money.
Sleeping 15
Examples to compare: Chalet Ormello (9 bedrooms, Courchevel 1850) and Chalet White Sand (7 bedrooms, Courchevel 1550).
Sleeping 14
The deepest tier, and for most groups of twelve to fourteen the place to look first.
Examples to compare: Chalet Gentianes (7 bedrooms, Courchevel 1850) and Chalet Sisimiut (5 bedrooms, Courchevel 1550).
The ratio, not the headline number
This is where large-group bookings go wrong. Fourteen guests in five bedrooms and fourteen guests in eight bedrooms are different holidays at a similar headline price. Seven couples fit the second comfortably and cannot fit the first at all.
Before you shortlist, write the group down as units rather than heads: how many couples, how many children, who is genuinely happy to share, and whether anyone needs a room on the ground floor. Then filter on bedrooms first and capacity second. Compare Chalet Ormello at nine bedrooms for 15 against Chalet Sisimiut at five for 14 and the point makes itself.
Above 16 guests
Courchevel runs out. For eighteen or twenty under one roof, Megève currently has the deeper top end — Chalet Zannier and Chalet Izoard both sleep 20 — which is covered in our Megève vs Courchevel comparison.
If Courchevel is fixed, we pair two chalets in the same village and coordinate staffing, chef and transfers across both. It works well when the two are genuinely close; it works badly when they are twenty minutes apart, so this is a booking to make early while the pairs still exist.
Village choice for a big group
Large groups are almost always mixed groups, and that argues against 1850 more often than people expect. Moriond and Courchevel Village give non-skiers and teenagers somewhere to go on foot, and the money saved buys a bigger chalet or a better chef. 1850 is right when the group will eat out seriously most nights and everyone skis. Our where to stay guide takes each village in turn.
What staffing does at this size
At fourteen-plus, staffing is what makes the week work rather than a luxury. Feeding sixteen people twice a day in a peak-season resort is not a job for the group. A chalet host, a chef and a concierge handling lift passes, ski school, restaurant reservations and the Geneva transfer — about two and a quarter to two and a half hours each way — is the difference between a holiday and an administrative exercise.
Book early, and book direct
There are two chalets in Courchevel that sleep 16 and a handful at 15. For fixed dates in the festive fortnight or February half-term, that shortlist is short enough that timing alone decides who gets them — see Christmas in Courchevel.
We book every chalet directly — no platform fees, one point of contact. Send your dates, your bedroom requirement and the shape of the group, and we will come back with what actually fits, including whether two neighbouring chalets serve you better than one.
Frequently asked questions
What is the largest chalet in Courchevel?
Art Chalet in 1850 and Le C Penthouse D15 in Moriond, both 8 bedrooms sleeping 16. Chalet Ormello has the most bedrooms at nine, sleeping 15.
How many Courchevel chalets sleep 14 or more?
Use the current collection to filter for your group, then confirm the bedroom configuration and maximum occupancy for the specific property.
Can we book a Courchevel chalet for 20 people?
Not under one roof. We pair two chalets in the same village, or point you to Megève, where two chalets sleep 20 individually.
Which large chalet is best for skiers?
Art Chalet — the only 16-guest property with ski-in/ski-out access. At 14, Chalet B, Lord Snow, Chalet Abruzzes and Le Petit Chateau all have it in 1850, as do Bacchus, Ascension and Licorne in Moriond.
Is a large chalet better value than hotel rooms?
Usually, and the comparison is not only financial: shared living space, a private wellness area and a chef are things a block of hotel rooms cannot give a group.
