00 — Overview

Haus Heidi was built in 1978 as a Bavarian-style chalet, enlarged in 1986 with a new floor and the turret, and spent years as a bed-and-breakfast before an 18-month, back-to-the-studs renovation turned it into a private rental. The outside keeps the original look; the inside is contemporary alpine, with wide-plank white oak floors, wool carpets and marble bathrooms. It sits on nearly an acre in Nesters, a quieter residential neighborhood about a 15-minute walk from Whistler Village, with Nesters Market down the street.

The house runs over three floors. The second floor is the shared space: a living room and turret lounge with a gas fireplace and 16-foot sliding doors to the front deck, a dining area with two oak tables and a long leather banquette, a bar with two beverage fridges, and a kitchen that spans the back of the house with a 48-inch gas range, more than 14 feet of island and three fridges. The deck off the kitchen has a gas fire pit, a Weber BBQ, a Kamado Joe smoker and outdoor seating for eight.

Downstairs is built for coming back from the mountain: a mudroom with heated marble floors, gear closets, ski pegs and a large boot dryer, a media room with a 10-foot projection screen, and a covered outdoor area with the hot tub, a cedar-lined sauna and a second fire pit. There are two laundry areas.

What to know about the layout. The four main suites are on the third floor and the bunk room is on the ground floor, so expect stairs; no elevator is listed. The Heidi suite’s bathroom is across the hall rather than en-suite, and the bunk room has only a two-piece en-suite, with the shower in the spa bath down the hall. Sleeping all 16 relies on the media room daybeds and sofa beds. The Meadow suite has its own entrance and kitchen and is rented only with the main house, never on its own.

The manager lists driving times of about 3 minutes to the Village and 5 minutes to the Whistler and Blackcomb gondolas. A private chef, chalet host or daily housekeeping can be added, and over Christmas and New Year the manager takes 7-night bookings, or 14 nights if your stay spans both holidays.
