Shoal Bay West sits at the western end of Anguilla, on the calm south-facing coast, and shares nothing with busy Shoal Bay East but the name. It’s a long, quiet curve of white sand with clear, gentle water and views across the channel to St Martin, known for striking villa architecture rather than beach bars.

The beach is home to Altamer, a small group of contemporary villas designed by architect Myron Goldfinger, and to the Covecastles villas next door, with Trattoria Tramonto, an Italian restaurant, on the sand. Beyond that, development is light, so the beach stays peaceful even in high season.
