The beach itself runs long and largely uninterrupted, backed by the historic Kā’anapali Beach Walk, and the whole corridor benefits from West Maui’s dry, sunny, leeward climate. Whalers Village, a shopping and dining complex roughly at the beach’s midpoint, anchors the resort’s commercial center and includes a small whaling history museum reflecting the area’s 19th-century whaling-era past. Whale season, December through April, brings regular humpback sightings in the channel just offshore, visible from the beach or many villa lanais.
