Canggu is Bali's surf-and-walkability area — beginner-friendly beach breaks, the island's densest concentration of cafés and beach clubs outside Seminyak, and rice-field surroundings that still survive between developments. Groups choose it when they want to walk to dinner and get in the water daily, and accept dark volcanic sand and busy roads as the trade.

Area Context
Our Canggu villas run from five to six bedrooms sleeping 10 to 14 guests, with private pools, staff, and positions within reach of Berawa, Batu Bolong and Echo beaches. The area's surf is beach-break rather than reef, making it the most practical base on the island for mixed-ability groups and beginners. Restaurants, cafés and beach clubs are walkable or a short ride from most villas — unusual for Bali, where dining normally requires a driver. Ngurah Rai airport is 45 to 60 minutes, longer at peak traffic.
Canggu occupies the coastline north of Seminyak, where rice fields still run down toward dark volcanic-sand beaches and the surf is consistent enough to have built the area’s entire character. Berawa, Batu Bolong and Echo Beach are beginner-to-intermediate beach breaks, which is what separates Canggu from the reef breaks of the Bukit — this is where people learn, and where surf schools operate daily.
The area has changed quickly. What was rice paddy a decade ago is now a dense strip of cafés, beach clubs and restaurants, and Canggu is now one of the busiest parts of Bali outside Seminyak. That density is the appeal for most groups — you can walk or take a five-minute ride to dinner rather than planning a driver for every meal — but it also means traffic on the main roads is slow, and the beaches are dark sand with real surf rather than calm swimming water.
Our seven Canggu villas run from five to six bedrooms, sleeping 10 to 14, set in walled garden compounds with private pools and staff. Most are a short walk or drive from Berawa or Batu Bolong. The airport is 45 to 60 minutes away.

Frequently Asked
Yes. Berawa, Batu Bolong and Echo Beach are beach breaks rather than reef breaks, which makes them far more forgiving than Uluwatu or Padang Padang on the Bukit. Surf schools operate daily and we can arrange lessons and board hire before arrival.
Dark volcanic sand with consistent surf. They are excellent for surfing and for sunset, but they are not calm swimming beaches — currents can be strong, and the water is not the clear turquoise of the Bukit peninsula coves. Groups prioritising swimming usually prefer Nusa Dua or the Bukit.
From most of ours, yes — either walkable or a five-minute ride. Canggu is one of the few areas in Bali where this is realistic; in most of the island, dining requires a driver.
