Rustic good looks and traditional Savoyard style make this luxury ski chalet in Méribel a very hygge holiday. From the moment you step inside the door, the original timbers, rough-hewn stone and cosy soft furnishings make you feel instantly cosseted and cared for.
A roaring fire, capacious sofas and huge windows that allow light to flood in make for a very sociable living space, ideal for gathering with friends, whether for a party or simply to get together and compare stories at the end of the skiing day. The open-plan dining area is a lovely spot in which to enjoy an intimate meal, good food, good wine and good conversation long into the evenings.
From the dining room, large sliding doors give access to the terrace, where you’ll find loungers for sunny days as well as the outdoor hot tub. We recommend a dip in the tub after a long day’s skiing to soothe aching muscles and quiet your mind as you look out onto the pistes just across the valley. The terrace catches the sun late in the day so is a perfect location for sundowners, but we love taking out a nightcap and looking at the stars in the later evening, too.
In the warm and welcoming bedrooms, every thought has gone into putting comfort at the top of the agenda. Each one boasts a spa-style en-suite and luxury duvets and throws to keep you extra cosy when you turn in for the night.
An in-resort driver service is ready to whisk you to the slopes whenever you’re ready and the chalet is only minutes’ walk from the centre of town, meaning you can really make the most of all Méribel has to offer. When you return to your chalet, kick off your ski gear in the boot room and head straight for the sauna to relax and recharge. Your next adventure is always just around the corner.

Good food and fine wines are two of the key stones of life at Chalet Amarena.
Each morning you’ll wake to a hearty breakfast, from homemade yogurts and compotes to cereals, pastries with cooked specials on five mornings. You’ll be set fair for a day on the slopes.
When you return from the snow, afternoon tea with homemade cakes or biscuits will be laid out ready for you. For any small skiers in your party, your chef will prepare an early kids’ tea so the adults can enjoy a more peaceful meal later on.
You’ll have just enough time to relax and get changed before pre-dinner canapés and drinks are served while your chef prepares your four-course evening meal.
Complimentary wines, beers and soft drinks are on tap throughout your stay and the staff will ensure your drinks are always topped up.
On staff days off, your in-resort concierge can help with restaurant bookings. For lunch, we love La Fruitiere at the mid-station of the Saulire gondola, and Chez Kiki near the Le Morel chair for dinner.
Children are made to feel most welcome at Chalet Amarena.
They’ll no doubt love splashing around in the outdoor hot tub out on the large terrace. When they start to flag after a big day on the slopes, they can simply relax in the separate TV den while the adults linger over a meal.
Your chef will be happy to cook dedicated kids’ teas with menus to appeal to younger palates. But if you prefer, a menu of family meals for you to enjoy together can also be arranged.
To make packing easier for parents, everything you could need for your luxury ski holiday with kids is here, from cots, sterilisers and baby monitors to kids’ crockery, cutlery and highchairs, down to toys, games, books and DVDs and even toboggans.
Childcare can be arranged on request, with experienced nannies and babysitters to keep them entertained while you’re on the slopes or out for the evening.
